As the world continues to change, we are continuing to focus on the safety of our members, visitors and team. As TechHub adapts to meet your needs as the lockdown restrictions begin to lift, there are some points you should consider when you are ready to return to the building. As commuting is top of people’s minds at the moment, we wanted to outline the options you have to get to TechHub.
Travelling to TechHub on foot
The government is advising you to commute on foot if you are able to and are within a mile of your destination to ease the strain on public transport.
Sadiq Khan has recently launched the Street Space for London campaign which will allow additional space for walkers and cyclists to commute around London.
Two main streets between London Bridge and Shoreditch, and Old Street and Holborn have been limited to bus, bike and pedestrian use only, with the exception of emergency services and the disabled, so you will have extra space to spread out safely and enjoy commuting in the open air.
If you would like to use the shower facilities when arriving at TechHub, please contact the community team.
Cycling your bike to TechHub
As some of you dust off your bicycles, we have ensured to make more room for you to park your bikes onsite in our secure cycle storage. If you would like to register for cycle parking please complete this form and return to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to use the shower facilities please contact the community team.
As well as the Street Space for London which also supports cyclists, the government offers two cycle to work schemes which could be of interest, Bike2Work and CycleScheme. The schemes offer support to employees and employers who would like to purchase a bike in installments and with a tax benefit too.
Santander rental bikes
If you don’t have your own bike, the government and Santander have been responding to the growing demand for bike hire. There are now 1700 more Santander bikes available around London, and Santander have added additional docking stations. We have a Santander docking station located within 20 meters of TechHub for you to drop off or collect a bike. Find out more about details and pricing here. We’d recommend having hand sanitiser or wipes on you, and to wipe down the handlebars and any part of the bike you’re using before and after use.
Motorbike / Moped
If you have a motorbike or moped, there is free on street motorcycle bays available directly opposite the entrance to TechHub on Clere Street.
Union car park is located directly opposite the entrance to TechHub on Clere Street. It’s a cash-only short and long stay car park, and it costs £15 for the whole day (shorter stay options also available). See more details here.
You must wear a face covering on public transport in England. You will be breaking the law if you fail to do so and could be fined. A face covering is a covering of any type must cover your nose and mouth.

The government recommends that you:
- Use quieter stations and stops – get off a stop early if it’s less busy.
- Keep changes to a minimum, for example, between bus and train.
- Walk for more of your journey, for example the first or last mile.
- Book your tickets online in advance or pay by contactless.
- Travel at off-peak times
If you are concerned about encountering large numbers of commuters check out this post by Transport for London which outlines busy times to travel, station and bus stop hot spots and general advice around travelling around London during the pandemic.
