Don't know about you, but we've certainly been waiting for this moment! Today is the day we announce the opening of TechHub Bucharest. We call it a "soft launch" - resident members will start working in the space on Wednesday and anyone who is interested to see it can book a private tour of the venue. We want everything to work best when we open it to the wide public, when we start organizing events and receiving guests. The official launch event will not be far away, we promise!
TechHub is built for the community, and it was certainly driven by the community. June, last year, Bogdan Iordache was publishing "the post to start them all". Loads of affirmative answers to the question "Do you want a hub for the tech community in Bucharest?" put the How to Web team to work. It was a learning process from the beginning. Throughout this time, there were many people who expressed their interest in membership of TechHub Bucharest and answered our questionnaire about workspace - big thanks to each and everyone of you.
Your answers gave us good direction and kept us going. They confirmed that the most important things you need are: reasonable price, networking opportunities, easy transport and a central location in the city. Well guys, it wasn't easy, took a lot more time than we expected in the beginning, and took Daniel Dragomir to join the team with a new strong force to drive things and the partnership with the TechHub global network that brought important knowledge... but in the end we found what we think is the perfect combination. It also took Stefan Szakal joining the project as a co-founder, support from great people like Victor Anastasiu, Dan Calugareanu and from big tech companies like Adobe Romania and Vodafone Romania to get things done as planned. But now it's here!
TechHub Bucharest is located on Nicolae Filipescu street, no. 39 - 41, district 2. It's a two-minute walk from the University metro station, five minute walk from the old city centre and its beautiful coffee shops, pubs and restaurants for meetings and hanging out. TechHub Residents get their own designated desks plus safe storage space (for important docs and such), and we have a beautiful coworking area for Flex Members who choose only to drop by from time-to-time. We have an excellent dedicated space for events of up to 150 people, plus two rooms for private meetings and calls. Our building the will also give priority to larger tech companies to rent spaces inside, bringing them that much closer to the community events that will be organized at TechHub.
Want to become a TechHub member? All members receive access to TechHub events worldwide, TechHub's international online network, and the use of all TechHub sites worldwide. You have two membership options which cover the type of workspace you need: TechHub Resident Membership: for 120EUR + VAT per month you get 24/7 access to your personal workspace and storage, and TechHub Flex Membership: for 80EUR + VAT per month you get drop-in access to the shared coworking area, during staffed hours.
Big thanks to everyone who's guided us and supported us along the way, and a big cheer to everyone who will join the community and help drive the Bucharest tech environment even further.
See you @TechHub!
