Chilly February is on its way, and TechChill Baltics is ready to give out the best quality key-notes, panel discussions, pitch contest and demo booths. Be prepared to enjoy the startup world in full! Plus, as usually, we have some thoughts to offer told by our speakers so note them down to improve your startup.
The next one on the list is Joe Cohen, ex-COO at Match.com, founder of Seatwave and board member at Sofar Sounds. Building businesses and investing in the most promising ones, Joe has obtained knowledge in team management, marketplaces, consumer relations and international business. During his time at Match.com, he led the buildout and operations in 43 countries and 18 languages, but as the CEO at Seatwave he raised $50m+ of external funding and led buildout in 12 markets. Roles in recent years include being a judge at the Telegraph Start-up 100, a mentor at Seedcamp Week and a sponsor at Devcamp.
What are the 2 most important things one must know about successful startup operations and growth?
First, narrow your focus and execute. Second, your team will look to you to decide how to act, so act accordingly.
In your opinion, what will be the most interesting things that will happen in 2015 in the world of startups?
First, with more and more successfully bootstrapped startups, the automatic reflex to find institutional/VC money will recede a bit. Second, with the recent explosion of prose and audio content startups (Buzzfeed and Serial) video content creation will take a big leap forward in narrative quality. Third, [there will be] more activity in spaces that we wouldn't normally expect it (eg. classical music, indie film, hobbies).
Please tell us, why should people attend TechChill Baltics 2015?
