Is your startup innovating the retail, defence or public sector? Work with BT, the Cabinet Office and TechHub.

We are excited to announce that our latest programme with BT Infinity Lab and the Cabinet Office is now open. The new programme is focussing on the theme of ‘Augmented Intelligence’ and judges want to see startups that boost digital public services, defence and retail by using both data processing powers of technology, and the expertise of human manpower. We are on the hunt in particular for SMEs with expertise in machine learning, robotics and Artificial Intelligence

The judges are keen to see innovations that could help provide more insight to the military when planning an operation, humanitarian mission or disaster relief. They are also interested in how robotics could be used to make a retail experience more personalised, or improve a customers’ experience when they contact a public service.

This year’s judges include Co-Op CIO Simon Bourne, General Sir Chris Deverell, Commander, Joint Forces Command, Ministry of Defence, Alison Pritchard, COO, Government Digital Service, and Elizabeth Varley, Founder and CEO of TechHub.

Oliver Dowden, Minister for Implementation, said: “The Government is committed to transforming public services...small businesses play a vital role in helping us do this by harnessing the latest digital technologies. I am delighted that we are partnering with BT to highlight and support innovative small businesses in the tech sector.”

Margot James, Minister for Digital and the Creative Industries, said: “I look forward to seeing these ideas become reality and help improve our public services so everyone can benefit from the technological revolution as we build a Britain fit for the future.”

The winner will get an invaluable opportunity to develop and test their product at scale and potentially bring it to market working closely with BT. As well as having the support of the BT Innovation team to trial the technology / service, three winners will also receive £10,000 cash and six months membership at TechHub, with access to our workspace and member support programme, which is designed to aid our community to scale, fast!

If you’re interested in applying, check out the full press release from BT here for more details. The deadline for entries is midday on Monday 12th March. The winners will be announced after a judging event at the iconic BT Tower on the 24 April 2018.
