Guest blog post from The Lovie Awards Judging Chair, Nicolas Roope.
The Lovie Awards is the only pan-European Award to honour the best of the EU Web and is the sister to the international Webby Awards, known as the Internets highest honour (New York Times). The Lovie Awards shares the same sentiment that the web isnt just an industry operating in a bubble, but rather a full-blooded mainstream economic, cultural, social and political force in all of our lives.
The Lovie Awards recognises work in five languages (English, German, French, Spanish and Italian), allowing many initiatives to gain recognition not otherwise attainable in front of English-only juries. The Lovie Awards also brings into sharp focus the contribution Europe makes as an entire region, helping to shape Europes collective digital identity.
Lovie jurors (members of the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, or IADAS include luminaries and innovators such as Stephen Fry, Soundcloud Co-Founder Eric Wahlforss, DJ and Presenter Lauren Laverne, iZettle CEO Jacob de Geer, Ian Hogarth of Songkick, Robin Chase, CEO of Buzzcar, and Cindy Gallop. These experts have all successfully adopted the positive, transformative power of the web.
Not only do the jurors represent the depth of practice we see across the EU Web, but so do our Lovie categories. There is something for everyone, from Native Advertising and Connected Products, to Education and Art.
The Extended Entry Deadline for this years Lovie Awards is 2 August at lovieawards.eu. If you want your product, service, content or concept in front of some of the best minds in the region with the potential to be recognised by many more, now is your chance.
