TechHub Academy finalist teams announced

TechHub Riga jury is happy to announce the 10 teams of TechHub Academy 2016!
The choice wasn’t easy, since competition is growing fast and TechHub received more than 50 very strong and professional applications from startup teams of 10 countries, including the US, UK, Germany, Poland and Finland.

The startups will participate in mentoring sessions at TechHub Academy on January 10, and compete for an opportunity to present at the Pitch Battle during TechChill Baltics 2016 conference in front of more than 400 industry leaders, internatonal media, investors and potential customers.

The 10 winning teams are:

Moodnode (Poland), smart light switch that helps you instantly and effortlessly automate your home lights
Branchtrack (Latvia), a flight simulator for sales people
Bike-ID (Germany), Bike Protection 2.0 - full protection against bike-theft
Deekit (United Kingdom), an online whiteboard for distributed teams and digital nomads
Wizard.Finance (Estonia), an app that saves 75% of time accountants spend on receipts
Writer.is (Latvia), a writing platform for emotional content, animated and good looking
FOCUSD (Latvia), development of Electronic Shooter Training Systems and software
Nordigen (Latvia), helping lenders automate screening of applicant bank statements
Giraffe360 (United Kingdom), end-to-end technology for building virtual tours
Treamer (Finland), a Tinder for short term jobs and LinkedIn for young people

The startups will receive advice and mentorship from TechHub Academy mentors such as the Co-Founder and CEO at FullContact Bart Lorang (USA), Founder of Funzi and an entrepreneurship coach and lecturer at Startup Sauna and The Founder Institute Aape Pohjavirta (Finland), communications guru and Head of Berlin office at Ballou PR Michaela Krause (Germany), who has run PR campaigns for high-growth technology companies like AOL, App Annie, TransferWise and Pinterest, a seasoned accelerators manager and mentor Tal Catran (Israel), founder of Trusting Systems and managing director at Wise Startup Guys Calum Cameron (Estonia) and founder of Stoneful Gleb Maltsev (Estonia).

Five of the best teams of TechHub Academy will get on the stage at fight at TechChill Baltics 2016 conference and fight at the final Pitch Battle for the attention of investors, international media and potential customers in the audience, as well as the main prize and winners mantle.

Pitch Battle will be judged by experienced investors and mentors, including Co-founder at Superhero Capital and Startup Sauna Juha Ruohonen (Finland), Vice President at Corum Group International Mark Johnson (Sweden), Co-Founder of Practica Capital Donatas Keras (Lithuania) and Tuomas Kosonen (Finland), responsible for online and mobile opportunities at Inventure.
