Calling all startups with innovative ideas for broadcasting media - work with BT and TechHub.

We have more exciting news from our partners at BT, who have just launched their next Infinity Lab programme focussing on ideas for broadcasting sport. This programme is aimed at entrepreneurs and startups that can help BT Sport continue to bring their viewers closer to the action, by providing engaging content through digital innovation.

We are now on the lookout for startups with ideas that have the potential to bring innovation to sports broadcasting. We are particularly interested in startups that have a focus on disrupting traditional broadcasting methods. This could include (but is not limited to) using new technologies such as 360 video and VR to capture in venue experience, to encourage interaction between fans, to make live sport more accessible for impaired viewers, or the use of data and analytics to analyse sporting highlights.

The competition is backed by BT Sport presenter, Craig Doyle, who said “BT Sport has been at the forefront of bringing fans some of the most exciting innovations in broadcasting and digital media. Our Premier League coverage has been boosted by last year’s winner and I look forward to seeing how the rest of our sports coverage might benefit from the this year’s Infinity Lab Competition winner..”

The winner will get an invaluable opportunity to develop and test their product at scale and potentially bring it to market working closely with BT. As well as having the support of the BT Innovation teams and BT sport to trial the technology / service, winners will also receive six months membership at TechHub, with access to our workspace and member support programme, which is designed to aid our community to scale, fast!

This is the second time we’ve worked with BT on a sports competition, and the previous winners Seenit are now a pivotal part of BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show. Emily Forbes and Ed Pearse Wheatley from Seenit said “It’s been a dream to see the Seenit content on TV. Finalists will be invited to the BT Sport studios in London where the proposals will be presented to Craig Doyle and a panel of BT experts.
